Mother-daughter trio compete together at provincial games in Vernon

Vernon trio make 55+ B.C. Games a family affair – Sep 14, 2017

Vernon’s Mira Grypink, 84, has been competing at the 55+ B.C. Games since they began three decades ago.

The Okanagan senior has turned swimming at the games into a family affair. She’s been participating so long her daughters are now able to compete alongside her.

“I’m pretty proud,” said Grypink of swimming on a relay team with daughters Jacquie and Monique.

“They seem to keep up with me so that’s good.”

The senior’s commitment to swimming has inspired her family.

“She probably has more energy than me. It’s amazing to watch,” said Mira’s granddaughter, Rebecca Ehman.

The trio’s next goal is to add their younger brother to their swim team when he turns 55 so all four can compete together.
