Bashaw RCMP respond to armed robbery

RCMP in central Alberta are looking for a man after an armed robbery at a hotel.

Police in Bashaw, Alta. were called at around 6:56 p.m. Tuesday after witnesses reported a man walking into the hotel bar with what appeared to be a long-barreled firearm.

The man allegedly pointed the gun at patrons and a hotel worker and demanded cash from the till and the VLTs. After he received the money, he fled into the passenger side of a dark-coloured SUV that headed east.

No injuries were reported.

Police investigation revealed that the licence plate was stolen and officers have not been able to locate the vehicle.

The man is described as about 6 feet tall with a slim build. At the time, police said he was wearing dark shoes with white soles, a dark-coloured hoodie with a white design on the left breast, a dark-coloured hat with a design on the front, black sunglasses, dark gloves and a white and dark-coloured tight bandana on his face.

Police received no description of the male driver of the SUV.
