A 31-year-old Milton, Ont., man has been charged with impaired driving causing death following a fatal two-vehicle crash in Mississauga.
Peel Regional Police said they received a call of a collision just after 1 a.m. Thursday at the intersection of Bristol Road and Mavis Road.
Emergency crews arrived and located two male occupants in an SUV, which was found flipped over on its side.
A 66-year-old Rustico Gamat was pronounced dead on scene and a 58-year-old man was transported to hospital with serious injuries but non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said the driver of the other vehicle was placed into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence.
Gamat’s family told Global News he was coming home from work at Chrysler Mopar in Brampton with his good friend and co-worker, who was driving.
Gamat’s daughter Lylline said he was a father to three and grandfather to five, and was close to retirement.

Azar Sheikh has since been charged with one count each of impaired operation cause death, impaired operation cause bodily harm and possession of a controlled substance.
The accused was scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
