Teen charged after 2 Peel police cruisers rammed by stolen vehicle in Brampton

A teen is facing charges after allegedly ramming a stolen vehicle into two police cruisers in Brampton.

Peel Regional Police noticed a vehicle in the area of McMurchy Avenue South and Queen Street on Sunday that had been reported stolen from a Mississauga community centre on August 28.

Police said officers attempted to stop the stolen vehicle, when it rammed into two police cruisers while the suspect attempted to escape. The suspect then abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot. He was arrested a short distance away.

There were no injuries reported.

The 17-year-old male has been charged with two counts of failing to remain at the scene of an accident and one count of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle. His name cannot be released under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

The teen has been held in custody pending a bail hearing at a Brampton court.
