The victim of a crash just outside of Hope has been identified as a 35-year-old mother of four.
Social media posts are beginning to flow in with tributes to Danielle Charlton, who was also known as Deedee to friends and family.
Police are still looking for the suspect who fled after the collision on Monday afternoon.
He is also accused of stealing a B.C. Wildfire Service truck as a getaway vehicle.
On Monday at about 3 p.m., officers responded from Fraser Valley Traffic Service and Hope to a crash involving an Equinox SUV and maintenance truck about 10 kilometres east of Hope.
According to Mounties, the SUV was believed to be travelling southbound before colliding with the truck. Charlton, who was a passenger in the SUV, died as a result of the crash.
The driver of the SUV allegedly fled the scene immediately after the crash in a white Ford F350 truck, which was stolen from a Good Samaritan who had stopped to help and left his truck unattended.
“I was just filming videos for my YouTube channel and thought it was a normal accident,” witness Landon Ozirny told Global News.
“As soon as I got closer, I stopped filming immediately, honestly the craziest thing I’ve seen. I never will see anything like that in my entire lifetime.”

The suspect is described as Caucasian, standing about 5-9 to 5-10, with dark, short hair. He has a thin face with some stubble and is said to have a thin waist, broad shoulders and was wearing a white-and-red-coloured motorcylce-style jacket with tan shorts.
“We believe that the suspect travelled to Hope in the white Ford F350 he stole from the Good Samaritan who stopped to help,” RCMP Traffic spokesperson Const. Melissa Wutke said in a statement.
“We have now recovered that truck, but are still seeking the suspect and information from anyone who may have dealt with him since the crash yesterday afternoon. If you see him, do not approach him and please call 911 immediately.”
