A Salmon Arm man has been acquitted of manslaughter in connection to the death of an Armstrong woman.
Jillian McKinty, 27, was found deceased in her home in November 2013. An autopsy determined she died of asphyxiation, the circumstances were suspicious, and an RCMP major crime unit became involved.
After a nine month investigation, 31-year-old Logan Scott was charged with manslaughter and theft under $5000.
During an interview with police, Scott claimed McKinty choked herself with a shirt while the pair were engaged in intercourse.

Scott dressed her naked corpse, stole her laptop, and left the residence with McKinty’s young twin boys left unattended.
On Tuesday morning, the judge found Scott not guilty of the homicide charge but he was convicted of theft.
He was sentenced to one year probation with 50 hours of community service. Scott was also ordered to pay $2300 restitution to McKinty’s parents for the computer.
