City officials say an accused impaired driver who crashed a pickup truck into a City of Saskatoon crew vehicle has pleaded guilty.
During the early morning hours of Sept. 2, 2016, city workers were painting crosswalks along College Drive near Munroe Avenue.

A worker who had just stepped out of the vehicle to set up a work zone, heard a loud vehicle approaching and managed to safely jump to the side.
The pickup truck struck with so much force it pushed the city truck ahead 10 metres, according to officials.
Another worker in the driver’s seat hit his head on the steering wheel from the impact. At the time, emergency workers treated him on scene for injuries that appeared to be minor.

The driver of a pickup truck was sentenced in Saskatoon provincial court on March 29. He was ordered to pay $2,100 plus a $900 victim surcharge for a total fine of $3,000.
He is also prohibited from driving for a year.
