A teenager was taken to hospital with burns after a fire destroyed a home near Marmora, Ont., on Sunday night.

The house on Cordova Road was fully involved when Marmora and Lake Fire Department crews arrived on scene just after 10:30 p.m. The community of Marmora is about 55 kilometres east of Peterborough off Highway 7.

Fire officials say the family managed to get out but a 14-year-old boy suffered minor burns.

“He was taken by ambulance to hospital with burns to his body,” said Greg Shire, public relations for the fire department. “I don’t believe it’s life-threatening.”

On Monday morning, the fire department said the teen was expected to be released from hospital later in the day.
