Montreal police search for suspect after woman stabbed near Parc Lafontaine

A 24-year-old woman is recovering in hospital after she was stabbed multiple times in the upper body Sunday night.

Police received a 911 call at around 9:15 p.m. concerning a stabbing on Montcalm Street, near Sherbrooke Street in Montreal’s Ville-Marie borough.

When officers arrived, they found a woman with multiple stab wounds.

She was rushed to hospital in critical condition, but police say she was stabilized overnight.

Montreal police spokesperson Caroline Chèvrefils said it appears the woman was arguing with a man on the sidewalk when she was stabbed.

The suspect fled the scene before police arrived.

According to Chèvrefils, the conflict could be drug related.

Chèvrefils confirmed the woman is know to Montreal police services.

Police have no description of the suspect. No arrests have been made in the case.
