Investigators believe the pickup’s driver, a 46-year-old Birch River man, was heading southbound when the woman exited the vehicle. She was struck by the trailer being towed by the truck and was pronounced dead on the scene.
RCMP say the driver is now in police custody and facing multiple charges, including impaired driving causing death and impaired over 80 causing death.
They believe alcohol is a factor in the collision.
