Vancouver 10th best large city in Canada according to Moneysense

Vancouver has finished last in a magazine survey of Canada’s top 10 large cities.

Moneysense magazine’s annual “Canada’s Best Places to Live” survey looks at incomes, unemployment rates, price of housing, weather, crime rates and healthcare.

Vancouver’s notoriously high housing prices and wet weather hurt its ranking.

Calgary was named the #1 large city in Canada, followed by Ottawa and Edmonton.

Saanich, B.C. was named Canada’s third best mid-sized city, and North Vancouver was named Canada’ eight best small city.

Not surprisingly, Victoria was named the best place to retire in Canada, followed by Saanich.

West Vancouver is the seventh best place for new immigrants to live, followed by Saanich (#8) and Vancouver (#10).

Powell River was named one of the “worst” places to live in Canada, according to the magazine. Moneysense singled out the low number of 2010 or newer model cars on the road.
