Starting this evening Regina will be under a fire ban.
Regina Fire and Protective Services issued the fire ban for 5 p.m. Friday due to the dry conditions.
All open fires using wood or seasoned logs are banned until further notice.

Fire pits and barbeques that are fueled by propane or natural gas are exempt from the ban.
When making the decision to put a fire ban in effect, the following conditions were taken into consideration:
- The onset of fall, which always produces an abundance of dormant vegetation
- The exceptionally dry summer Regina has experienced
- Moisture conditions of the remaining ground vegetation have deteriorated dramatically over the past week, especially in the City’s parks, open spaces and undeveloped lands.
The city is also reminding people to make sure that they properly dispose of smoker’s material in an approved container and not flower pots, planters or plastic containers.
