I’m Alright singer Jo Dee Messina will postpone her 2017 tour after being diagnosed with cancer.
Messina, 47, and her team revealed the news on the country singer’s website. “Team JDM wanted to be the first to let you know that she was recently diagnosed with cancer,” the statement reads. “It has been a trying summer, but her heart has been filled with gratitude for the many opportunities she has had to see God’s hand at work.”

The specific type of cancer has not been revealed, but Messina will explore her treatment options. “We don’t know anything specific regarding the treatment plan at this point,” the team adds. “But Jo Dee is working closely with a team to explore all options. She has taken the semester off from classes at The King’s University.”
The Bye Bye singer will be forced to postpone her tour dates after Oct. 7, “as she will begin cancer treatment this Fall.”

Messina, made it big in the late ’90s with a string of hit songs from her sophomore record, I’m Alright. She holds the distinction of being the first female country artist to score three multiple-week No. 1 hits from the same album.
“We will continue to keep fans updated on Jo Dee’s journey and appreciate the outpouring of love, prayers, and support she has already received,” the statement concludes.
