Man dies in Mississauga townhouse fire

Peel police say a man has died after a fire at a townhouse in Mississauga.

Local firefighters were called out to a residence at 7030 Copenhagen Road near Derry Road, just after 11 a.m.

Upon arrival crews found an active fire in what they describe as an old style town home.

Mississauga Fire Chief Tim Beckett told Global news on scene that the fire quickly became a three alarm fire, however it was contained to three units of the townhouse complex.

Peel Regional Police Const. Rachel Gibbs said a male was removed from the home where the fire began without vital signs and pronounced dead at the scene.

The Ontario Fire Marshal has been called in to investigate.
