Three years ago a homeless woman was left without legs after a vicious attack in Prince Albert, Sask., but Tuesday was a day to smile for Marlene Bird.
Bird recently had her scooter stolen.

Saskatoon’s Tricia Mills, who also recently had her scooter stolen from her vehicle, received help from people around the province.
“I felt vulnerable and I can walk. I can just imagine how Marlene felt because she has no legs,” Mills said.
Mills received three motorized scooters after her story was told and wanted to pay it forward. With the help of the RCMP, Mills had one delivered to the Friendship Centre in downtown Prince Albert.
“I really wanted to see her face when she got the wheelchair. It was unbelievable,” Mills said.
Leslie Black, who pleaded guilty to the vicious attack, is scheduled to be sentenced on Sept. 22.
