Man sentenced in fatal Saskatoon stolen truck crash

A Saskatoon man has been sentenced to four years in prison after being charged in a fatal crash involving a stolen truck.

Reece Terrance Fiddler, 21, was convicted Friday of evading police, along several other charges.

He was also given a five-year driving ban.

Fiddler was behind the wheel of the stolen truck when it crashed into a fence by Bethlehem Catholic High School on Oct. 23, 2016.

Jordan Lafond, 21, who was a passenger in the truck, was seriously injured and later died in hospital.

Saskatoon police said four firearms and ammunition were found in the stolen truck.

Fiddler had initially been charged with evading police causing death. The charge was later downgraded to evading police.
