Cape Breton police identifying Sydney, N.S. man as victim of homicide

Cape Breton police have identified a man they say was a victim of homicide. Cape Breton Regional Police

A Sydney, N.S. man has been identified as the victim of a homicide first reported Tuesday.

Cape Breton Police say they were called to a report of a deceased person at a Prince Street address at approximately 11 a.m. When they arrived, they found the body of a man in his 50s in his apartment.

In a news release Wednesday, police identified the man as 54-year-old James David Matthews.

The death was suspicious in nature and police say it is still being treated as a homicide.

The investigation is ongoing.
