Work is slated to start to repair the tracks along the Woodland Avenue train crossing in Beaconsfield.
Saturday morning, the level crossing will be closed to cars and pedestrians.
The work highlights an ongoing problem in Beaconsfield: any time a train passes, it cuts off traffic.
“There needs to be a way for us to get to-and-from the train station without having to cross the tracks,” said Emily Katigbak, a commuter who works downtown.
Beaconsfield officials told Global News an overpass could cost as much as $50 million and would involve coordinating between four agencies and governments.
It would also involve land expropriation.
CP workers will repair tracks Saturday from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m.
CN has delayed its work on the tracks, which was originally scheduled from Wednesday afternoon to Friday evening.
Commuters heading to Beaconsfield will be reroute through Saint-Charles Boulevard.
