Hamilton Police say a missing teen is believed to be in Mexico after leaving the country with her uncle.

Amanda Memmolo, 16, was reported missing on Aug. 1, and hadn’t been seen since July 18.  On Tuesday, investigators issued a plea to the public for information on the girl’s whereabouts.

They said that she functions at a 12-year-old level, has epilepsy and requires medication for her seizures.

On Wednesday, police said it’s been confirmed that the teen is in Mexico, but said they are continuing the investigation until they can confirm her physical and mental well-being.

Hamilton police are asking anyone with information to contact investigators at 905-546-3886 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.
