Winnipeg police charge 17-year-old with manslaughter after weekend death

A teenager is dead and a 17-year-old has been charged with manslaughter after an altercation on Sunday.

At approximately 3:40 a.m. police responded to a disturbance in the 1200 block of Court Avenue where a large gathering was underway.

A 17-year-old male was found with serious injuries from a stabbing.

“The male was found outside the residence, there is indication that part of this altercation did occur inside the residence,” Cst. Tammy Skrabek said Thursday.

The victim was rushed to hospital where he later died.

A second 17-year-old was arrested at the gathering and charged with manslaughter.

Officers aren’t sure if the two knew one another or if they just met.
