One killed in collision between a farm tractor and pickup near Brighton

The driver of a farm tractor was killed after it collided with a pickup truck Tuesday night near Brighton, Ont – Jul 26, 2017

One man is dead following a collision Tuesday night between a farm tractor and a pickup truck just north of Brighton, Ont.

Northumberland OPP say the farm tractor was rear-ended by the westbound pickup along County Road 41 near County Road 26. Paramedics and firefighters arrived around 9:30 p.m. and had to extricate a man who was pinned underneath the tractor which ended up in a ditch.

Police say 60-year-old David Down of Brighton was pronounced dead at the scene which was just metres away from his residence.

The driver of the pickup truck was not injured.

The road was closed for more than seven hours. The cause of the crash remains under investigated.
