A police standoff between Surrey RCMP and a distraught man ended peacefully on Wednesday.
At 10:40 a.m., police were called to the home in the 7000-block of 191 Street where a man believed to have a gun was threatening to harm himself and others.

Nearby Clayton Heights Secondary and Katzie and Hazelgrove Elementary Schools were “locked out although they were not involved directly or in harm’s way during this incident,” according to an RCMP statement.
The emergency response team and a police negotiator talked to the man, who eventually surrendered without further incident at around 1:30 p.m.
