Child dead, 6 taken to hospital after 2-vehicle crash in East Gwillimbury

A child has died and six people have been taken to hospital after two cars crashed in East Gwillimbury Wednesday afternoon.

York Region police and paramedics were called to Woodbine Avenue and Mount Albert Road, just east of Highway 404, at around 3:30 p.m.

Police said the child died at the scene. York Paramedics said six patients were taken to hospital with various injuries.

Officers are investigating the circumstances leading up to the crash.
