A second-degree murder charge has been laid against a Halifax man in connection to the homicide of Angela Hall.
Hall was found injured in the hallway of a building on Primrose Street in Dartmouth on April 29, 2011. She was transported to hospital where she later died.
On Tuesday, police said investigators arrested 25-year-old Christian Enang Clyke. Police say he was already in police custody for an unrelated matter when he was arrested.
Supt. Jim Perrin told reporters that investigators became aware of new information in the file in November 2016. He said it was investigated since then and helped police “get to today’s point.”
“Today is a testament to the fact that our investigators and our civilians that support them are always working very hard on these files to bring some sense of comfort to the families left behind,” he said.
When the homicide occurred, Perrin confirmed that Clyke was a person of interest in the investigation.
“Today’s events are not a surprise to us,” Perrin said. “But again it is a fluid situation and we’re hopeful other charges could come as a result of this.”

Clyke is set to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court Tuesday to face the charge.
Hall’s homicide was added to the province‘s Rewards for Major Unsolved Crimes program in March. Up to $150,000 can be awarded for information in each case. Perrin said there was not a direct link between Clyke’s arrest and the rewards program.
Perrin added they have been trying to contact Hall’s family but have yet to do so as of about 3 p.m. Tuesday.
