York Regional Police have charged a 53-year-old personal support worker in relation to the sexual assault of a teenage female victim.
Police began investigating on Thursday, June 1 after a 17-year-old female volunteer at Markham Stouffville Hospital reported that she was sexually assaulted by a man employed as a personal support worker.
On June 22, police charged Ali Taheri of Richmond Hill with sexual assualt and sexual exploitation. He will appear in court in Newmarket on July 28 to face the charges.
Police say Taheri is known to have worked as a personal support worker where he had access to vulnerable patients requiring care.
Investigators are releasing a photo of the accused to ensure there are no additional victims.
