The collision happened just before 11 p.m. on Winston Churchill Boulevard between North Sheridan Way and Queen Elizabeth Way.

Peel Regional Police said a Mazda sedan somehow crossed the centre lane and collided into a Mercedes.

Two boys, ages five and 13, succumbed to their injuries as they were taken to hospital. A 40-year-old adult, who was the lone occupant of the Mazda, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said a 7-year-old girl was also rushed to hospital and remains in stable condition.

A 25-year-old passenger is in critical condition and the 24-year-old male driver of the Mercedes suffered minor injuries.

The 13-year-old boy has been identified as Keziah Edwards-Young, a Grade 7 student at Erin Mills Middle School in Mississauga.

“This tragedy has brought great sadness to the students and staff at Erin Mills,” principal Monika Hurford wrote in a letter to parents Monday.

“Keziah was a well liked student – a valuable member of our school community. We will miss him.”

Police have not disclosed the relationships of the individuals inside the Mercedes.

There’s no word yet on the exact cause of the collision and the investigation is ongoing.

Police are urging anyone near the area at the time of the crash to come forward.
