Students at Fanshawe’s Norton Wolf School of Aviation Technology will have a surprise gift waiting for their return come September.
On Monday Fanshawe’s Norton Wolf School of Aviation Technology added a de Havilland Canada DHC-7 (Dash 7) turboprop-powered plane to its growing fleet of instructional aircraft.
The airplane was donated by Trans Capital Air Ltd., a charter airline that operates transport services for the United Nations (UN) on peacekeeping, political and humanitarian missions.
The 32-year-old plane has flown more than 25,000 missions and will be decommissioned and housed at the College’s hangar at the London International Airport to be used as a teaching tool for students enrolled in Fanshawe’s aviation programs.
“It gives me great pleasure to offer that opportunity to the students of Fanshawe College. I’m happy this gift will be able to keep on giving to the learners of today and doers of tomorrow,” said president and CEO of Trans Capital Air Ltd., Antonio Pappalardo in the press release.
Students in Fanshawe’s aviation programs will get their chance to work on the plane come the start of the school year, slated for September 5th, 2017.
