Halifax Regional Police say a 20-year-old woman has died after being hit by a train in Bedford.
Police say they don’t suspect foul play but that the woman’s identity will not be released.
According to a press release, the report of the collision was first received around 9:18 a.m. on Thursday.
“It’s devastating. I feel sorry for the family,” said Richard Sanderson who works near the site of the crash. “There’s never been an accident here as far as I know.”
The train was travelling towards Halifax when it hit a woman on the track near the 270 block of Rocky Lake Drive.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police are at the location as are officials from CN Police.
Const. Dianne Penfound told The Canadian Press that police hadn’t yet been able to identify the woman.
Penfound says the tracks were accessible at a nearby dead-end street.
