Huron OPP have identified a 76-year-old Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh man as the victim of a fatal single-vehicle crash early Tuesday evening east of Dungannon.
Emergency crews including Huron OPP, Huron EMS, and North Huron Fire were called to the scene along St. Augustine Line just north of Dungannon Road around 7 p.m. for a crash involving a pickup truck.
Preliminary investigation has determined that a Ford F-150 travelling south on St. Augustine lost control and left the gravel roadway. The vehicle rolled, ejecting the male driver and lone occupant, before coming to rest on the driver’s side in the east ditch.
The driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The victim has been identified as William Showers, 76, of Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh.
A post-mortem was scheduled to take place Wednesday morning in London, police said.
The collision remains under investigation, and police ask anyone with information about the crash to contact them at 1-888-310-1122 or 519-524-8314.
