For the third time in just over a month, a London police officer has been charged with assault.
Police began an investigation late last month after receiving information about an incident involving an officer at police headquarters on Dundas Street on Sept. 6, 2016.
No further details about what allegedly took place were released.
It was revealed Tuesday that Sgt. Peter Paquette has been charged with assault.
He has been placed on administrative leave and is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 2.
According to investigators, the victim did not complain at the time of the incident.
Paquette was charged less than two months after the Special Investigations Unit laid charges against a pair of officers in relation to the arrest of a 40-year-old man on June 16, 2016.
Police had an “interaction” with the individual in a plaza near Base Line Road East and Wharncliffe Road South, which continued in front of an apartment building on Highland Avenue.
The man sustained injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.
Const. Theresa Clayton is charged with one count of assault causing bodily harm, while Const. Jeff Lake faces one count of assault.
The two officers currently remain on the job.
