The family of a young Vancouver Woman who died in a traffic accident in Thailand is remembering her as a creative, adventurous free spirit, who was having “the time of her life” travelling with a friend on a South-East Asia holiday.

Ali Lambert died Friday when the rented jeep she and her friend were driving in went off the road during a torrential rainstorm between Phuket and Bangkok.

Her father Doug tells CKNW that Ali stayed in close contact with her parents during her adventures abroad.

“She had texted us the morning of the drive, and was excited to announce to her mother that she was in a bright pink jeep ‘…and Mom I wish you were here with us.”

“We need to get the girls home…We’re working with Global Affairs, they’ve been incredible at helping us out. We’ve hired a funeral service here in Vancouver to correspond with the Bangkok funeral home and bring Ali’s remains home.”

He says they are very fortunate to have friends and family to support them during this difficult time.

“She was a great student, so we’re delighted she had some time to reap the benefits of that and have some fun before she departed this planet.”

Doug says they will be setting up a scholarship in Ali’s name to help art students.
