Man killed in hit-and-run near Black Creek and Weston Road area

A 37-year-old man was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Toronto early Wednesday morning.

The incident happened just before 5 a.m. in the area of Black Creek Drive and Weston Road area.

Toronto police said a vehicle was traveling northbound on Black Creek Drive when it made a left turn on Eglinton Avenue West and ended up going westbound in the eastbound lanes.

“At the time that occurred, there were two individuals on the roadway, a male and a female, that were involved in an altercation,” Const. Clint Stibbe said. “When the vehicle came through the area, it struck the male pedestrian.”

Toronto EMS said the male pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Police said the vehicle fled the area but was located a short time later along with the driver.

There’s no word yet on the cause of the collision.

Eglinton Avenue West remains closed between Black Creek and Weston for the police investigation.
