It’s another sign of rebuilding for a Manitoba community that was torn apart by flooding more than six years ago.
On Thursday, the first round of pre-constructed homes headed to Lake St. Martin First Nation, a community around 225 kilometres northwest of Winnipeg.

More than 1,200 residents from the First Nation were forced out of their homes after a massive flood in 2011. All the housing at Lake St. Martin First Nation was destroyed.
Many of those evacuated have been staying in Winnipeg.
The rebuild and return to the community has been dubbed ‘Operation Return Home’. At 9 a.m., the homes were sent from Matix Lumber in Headingley, Man., to the community.

Since 2011, 94 member of the small community died before getting the chance to return home.
