But after years of receiving little to no interest, town owner Rick Brengle decided to put it up for auction.

“You might have noticed, we’re getting a little long in the tooth, and something just has to give, so we decided to put it up for auction,” Brengle told KNBN.

Aladdin is approximately 30 acres in size, and was founded as an outpost for coal workers in 1896.

The town’s mining days are long gone and now attracts mostly tourists and motorcyclists who attend an annual event across the South Dakota border each year.

For the reasonable asking price, the buyer will get the town’s post office, a cafe and licensed bar, a motel, the town trailer park and the Brengle’s four-bedroom home.

The town’s 125-year-old general store is the centrepiece of the deal, which comes with $160,000 worth of inventory, including an “extensive cigarette selection,” and “new contemporary western clothing.”

“Oh yes, this is a two-storey mega mall for Aladdin, Wyo.,” jokes a review on the town’s Trip Advisor page.

The auction is scheduled to be held Friday.

As for Brengle, he just has one hope from the new buyer.

“I would definitely like to see [Aladdin] stay the way it is,” he says.
