Mayor John Tory will be joined by fellow councillors for the raising of the rainbow flag at city hall on Wednesday to mark the launch of Pride Month in Toronto.
City officials will be accompanied by Pride Toronto’s executive director Olivia Nuamah and co-chair of Pride Toronto’s board of directors Alicia Hall for the event at noon on the podium roof.

The flag raising will be followed by a proclamation designating June as Pride Month.
Earlier this year, organizers unveiled the theme for the month-long festival with the use of the “+” sign to represent diversity.

Pride officials said the symbol exemplifies the addition and expression of new perspectives and different voices at the event.
This year’s Pride Festival will run from June 1 to 25.
