SUV hits Kelowna grocery store

An SUV hit the front of a Kelowna grocery store on Thursday afternoon.

Police said just before 1:30 p.m. an elderly driver mixed up the gas and brake pedals while parking.

“Thankfully, there were no pedestrians in the immediate area, as her vehicle lurched over the curb and into the building, narrowly missing the entrance and exit doors,” said RCMP Cpl. Tania Carroll.

The incident happened at the Safeway on Bernard Avenue.

The driver wasn’t hurt, but the vehicle had to be towed away from the scene.

It’s was the second incident on Thursday where a vehicle hit a building in Kelowna.

On Thursday morning, a driver suffered a medical emergency and crashed into a home on Loseth Drive.
