OPP have identified the 54-year-old man killed in a serious two-vehicle collision just north of the city as Thomas Dinney, from South Huron.
Emergency crews responded to a two-vehicle collision on Richmond Street north of Eight Mile Road around 11:54 a.m. Saturday.
A minivan was travelling north on Richmond when it struck the rear of a cube van that had stopped to turn into a driveway, police said.
According to officials, the male driver of the minivan had to be extricated from the vehicle. He was transported to hospital by ambulance with life-threatening injuries and later died, police said.
The man’s identity was withheld pending notification of next of kin.
OPP Technical Traffic Collision investigators are assisting with the investigation.
Richmond Street was closed for around seven hours for investigation.
