Two people are dead and three people are in hospital following a head-on collision north of Grande Prairie Thursday morning.
Shortly after 7:10 a.m., police were called to a crash on Highway 2, north of Sexsmith, Alta.
RCMP said a truck heading north on Highway 2 near Township Road 750 crossed the centre line, colliding head-on with an oncoming truck.
A 34-year-old man from Grande Prairie, a passenger in the northbound truck, was pronounced dead on scene. The driver of the truck and another male passenger were both taken to hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the southbound truck, a 38-year-old man from Worsley, Alta., was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the truck was taken by air ambulance to a local hospital, then transported to hospital in Edmonton with life-threatening injuries.
Traffic was diverted in the area for several hours on Thursday.
The names of the victims will not be released.
