A Hamilton man has been charged in connection with the sexual assault of a sex-trade worker in February.

Hamilton police say a woman was approached on Feb. 19 at 9:30 p.m. in the area of Barton Street and Birch Avenue.

Investigators report they walked to a secluded area a few blocks away where an attack took place.

Zamir Simas-Mamani, 28, of Hamilton has been charged with sexual assault and choking.

He is being held for a bail hearing.

The Hamilton Police Service Victim of Crime Unit continues to investigate and believe that there may be more victims who had contact with the suspect.
