Part of Saint-Jacques Street will close Monday for at least two months

Beginning Monday, April 10, the stretch of Saint-Jacques Street. West, between St. Remi and De Courcelle streets will be closed for at least two months.

Transport Quebec announced Wednesday that they need to completely close the stretch of the street in order to continue road repairs.

Another potential traffic tie-up related to the Turcot Interchange project.

Traffic consultant, Rick Leckner, said the shut down of this stretch of Saint-Jacques will cause traffic headaches.

“The people in that area have been hit hard for the last 2 years at least and it never seems to stop,” he said.

But Leckner warns that closures will only get worse.

“Starting this fall, there will be major disruptions through the Turcot Interchange and then at the end of 2017 this year, they’ll be closing the Westbound Ville-Marie Expressway to demolish it and that’s gonna be very challenging as well,” he said.

The road will be closed until at least June.

Transport Quebec has yet to release details for a detour.
