New location set as Canada Remembers air show returns this summer

The Canada Remembers air show will be back this summer at a new location close to Saskatoon.

The “Armed Forces Day – Salute to Heroes” event is set to take place at 17 Wing Detachment Dundurn on June 10 and 11.

In the past, it’s been held at Wyant Group Raceway, formerly known as Auto Clearing Motor Speedway.

The air show will make a triumphant return in time to celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday. Participants can expect to see the Snowbirds, a CF-18 jet, the SkyHawks parachute team and much more.

“A lot of people believe that our men and women in the military deserve to be acknowledged, and remembered and recognized more than once a year,” volunteer director Brian Swidrovich said.

“Functions like this will allow thousands of people to come together and do just that. So it’s an educational process, bring your kids and learn a little bit more about the men and women who served, and sacrificed for our country.”

Additionally, it will commemorate the 100th anniversary of Vimy Ridge and Canadians from all branches of the military, past and present.
