88-year-old pedestrian dies after being hit by car in Surrey crosswalk

An 88-year-old man has died of his injuries after being hit in a Surrey crosswalk last night.

RCMP say the man was hit by a car at 138 Street and 70 Avenue on Sunday night, around 8:30 p.m.

The vehicle was travelling north on 138 Street at the time.

The pedestrian was transported to hospital in critical condition but died of his injuries on Monday.

Police said the driver of the vehicle stayed on scene and is cooperating with police.

The intersection of 138 Street and 70 Avenue was closed for a few hours while police investigated.
