1 man killed after single-vehicle rollover in Burlington

A 22-year-old man is dead after a single-vehicle rollover in Burlington early Saturday.

Halton Regional Police said the 2010 Volkswagen Golf was driving north on Walkers Line through the intersection at Britannia Road around 3:45 a.m., when it failed to negotiate the curve and went airborne off an embankment then crashed to the ground below.

Police said the collision wasn’t discovered until hours later when a passing vehicle noticed the scene and called it in around 6 a.m.

Emergency personnel tried to revive the ejected driver, the lone male occupant of the vehicle, but he was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

The Halton Regional Police Reconstruction Unit closed off the scene for five hours as they conducted their investigation.

The driver was a Burlington resident.
