WINNIPEG — Three men have been arrested after a student was stabbed at a Winnipeg high school Thursday afternoon. Police are still looking for one more suspect in connection to the stabbing.
At 1:45 p.m. Thursday, four suspects confronted a 16-year-old student at the parking lot at St. John High School on Church Avenue. The suspects were armed with a knife and a baton, police said.
The student tried to defend himself but was eventually knocked to the ground and he was stabbed in the upper body, police said. The suspects then fled the scene.

The victim was rushed to hospital in critical condition and has since been upgraded to stable condition.
“At this time I don’t have the specifics to what the dispute may have been about,” Const. Jason Michalyshen with the police said at a media conference Friday.
“Clearly there is history between victim and the accused.”
Shortly after 2 p.m. Thursday, officers went to the 300 block of College Avenue and arrested three men, aged 18, 21 and 22. Two of the men were charged with aggravated assault and another man was charged with uttering threats.
The school was put into a hold and secure until 2:45 p.m.
The school division said a clinical support team will be provided but because Friday is an inservice day it won’t be available to students until Monday.
The investigation is continuing and there is a pending arrest.
