Charges laid after teenage girl stabbed inside Mic Mac Mall

Halifax police have confirmed to Global News that charges have been laid against a 14-year-old girl in connection with a stabbing that occurred Thursday evening.

Halifax Regional Police said the incident happened shortly before 8:00 p.m. when two teenage girls got into a fight in the food court. Following a verbal dispute, the victim was stabbed in the arm.

A 17-year-old girl was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries Thursday evening after being stabbed inside Mic Mac Mall.

The 14-year-old was taken into custody shortly afterwards. She is now facing charges of assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, assault, possession of a weapon and uttering threats.

She is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial youth court April 27.
