Thunder, lightning reported across Lower Mainland Wednesday night

Residents across the Lower Mainland were rattled by some severe weather Wednesday night.

Thunder, lighting and even some hail was reported all across the region. Environment Canada says there were 46 lightning strikes across the region between 8:45 p.m. and midnight.

In Delta, some residents were forced out of their homes for a short time. Emergency crews were called to the area around 92A Avenue and Kendale Way after a number of lightning strikes. Five homes were affected by the evacuation order.

Many were left without power after a transformer in the area was also blown out in the storm.

No one was hurt in the incident.
