North Vancouver RCMP are investigating a targeted shooting that sent a man to hospital on Monday afternoon.
Police told Global News a man suffering from gunshot wounds was taken to hospital from a house in the 800-block of East 12th Street at around 3:30 p.m. The 22-year-old victim was taken to hospital. Police have not identified him but say he is a North Vancouver resident. He remains in hospital in serious but stable condition.
Witnesses told police they saw a black Nissan sedan speeding away from the crime scene.
This unsettling incident appears to be a targeted shooting,
said Cpl. Richard De Jong of the North Vancouver RCMP. There is no threat to public safety.
The active investigation is ongoing and is being conducted by the North Vancouver RCMP Investigative Services Section.
There was a heavy police presence across the North Shore following the shooting. Several members of the Emergency Response Team were positioned at Lions Gate Hospital and officers stopped cars on Highway 1 and the Lions Gate Bridge.
Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect vehicle and the person responsible for the shooting. If anyone has information about this incident they are asked to call the North Vancouver RCMP at 604-985-1311 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477(TIPS).

The incident was one of two daylight shooting in the Metro Vancouver Monday afternoon. In Surrey, authorities are investigating a targeted shooting in the area of Fleetwood.
