One person is now recovering in hospital after a home in Port Moody went up in flames Wednesday night.
The fire broke out at a house near Forest Park Way and David Avenue around 10 p.m.
When fire crews arrived, flames were shooting from the front of the home. The people inside were able to make it out safely with one being taken to hospital by BC Ambulance. No serious injuries were reported.
Firefighters also pulled a dog from the house and were able to treat the animal with a pet oxygen mask, which was recently donated to the department.
An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway. The house sustained fire and smoke damage and is uninhabitable at this time.
“When we first arrived there was an indication one person may be in the house,” said Port Moody Fire Rescue Chief Ron Coulson. “That was confirmed not true but a dog was recovered from the house alive. We administered first aid to that puppy.”
