Paramotoring man taken to hospital after accident near White Rock

WATCH: A man who was paragliding is still recovering in hospital tonight, five days after he survived a fall. On Wednesday - he came crashing down in White Rock. Tonight his family says it's a miracle he's even alive. Julia Foy has the exclusive interview with his sister – Mar 5, 2017

UPDATE: Family has identified the paraglider as 29-year-old Paul Harvey. They have set up a GoFundMe page to raise money for his recovery.

A paraglider is being treated for serious injuries after crashing on a beach south of White Rock.

White Rock RCMP Const. Chantal Sears says witnesses saw a man in a motorized paraglider in the area of Semiahmoo Bay descending rapidly and making a hard landing on the beach.

The pilot was found by emergency crews conscious and breathing and was airlifted to hospital.

“The cage around him was twisted up,” said Mark Hinkson who witnessed the crash. “He was in bad shape and was bleeding profusely.”
