The Taber Fire Department fought a major structure fire in the 5800 block of 52 Avenue between 50 Avenue and 56 Avenue, that started at around 3 p.m. Saturday.
Officials said they couldn’t attack the fire from inside because there were flammable materials inside the building.
Crews had the blaze under control at around 7:30 p.m.
The building has multiple tenants for businesses such as industrial excavation and refineries. Officials said the building is a total write-off.
Fire officials said there were three people in the building at the time of the fire, one person was taken to hospital for burns but has since been released.
Frito-Lay, a nearby business, suffered minor smoke damage on the outside of their building.
The public is being asked to stay away from 57 Street between 50 Ave and 56 Ave.
Barricades were erected around the area as smoke billowed in an easterly direction.
Taber is 54 kilometres northeast of Lethbridge.
